Josh Glawe, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, has over fifteen years of experience providing individual, family, marital, and group therapy. His versatile practice focuses primarily on dual diagnosis treatment. Josh especially enjoys working with young adults transitioning into recovery.
Josh’s adult practice focuses on loss and bereavement, cognitive behavioral therapy for depression, anxiety, trauma, and panic disorders as well as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Via extended training in OCD, Josh offers Exposure Response Prevention for those suffering with OCD. He also offers family sessions for those living with someone impacted by OCD. He is highly competent in treating relationship issues, marital conflict, and family communication problems. He focuses on empirically based interventions that are geared to deliver results.
In addition to the wide array of mental health concerns, Josh is an expert in the field of substance use disorders and addiction. He provides therapy/support for those living in recovery and is well versed at treating both adult and adolescents experiencing alcohol or other drug related problems including spending, gambling, Internet, and pornography. Josh recognizes the challenges of obtaining and maintaining early sobriety and uses a broad range of models/approaches that enhance and sustain motivation for personal growth and well-being. He provides therapy and education to family members and is able to organize interventions, provide links to a wide array of programs, and walk you through the process of treatment step by step.
The assessment and diagnosis of clinically complicated cases is another area of clinical interest of his. He is able to play the role of detective in determining accurate diagnoses so that appropriate treatment can be initiated. This custom assessment is suggested for those who have been in treatment before and may have not gotten the desired results, those who have conflicting diagnoses, or those who simply want a fresh and unbiased perspective. Not only is Josh able to deliver accurate diagnoses, but he can match you with our in house experts providing treatment in the area to ensure comprehensive treatment.
Presently, Josh provides Clinical Consultation to Fusion Academy, an alternative school in Morristown, NJ. He is a member of the International Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Foundation. Josh is member of the Morris County Opiate Task Force, and one of his goals is to eliminate stigma and discrimination associated with substance use disorders. He also gives lectures to professional groups, including the Morris County Professional Counselor Association, and conduct in-services for various school districts as well as for local chapters of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
His past work experience is diverse. Josh was Clinical Consultant for the Division of Youth And Family Services for Union County. He acted as the liaison to the Department of Children’s Behavioral Health, PerformCare, and care management organizations. Additionally, Josh worked as a clinician at Carrier Clinic, Trinitas Hospital, Mt. Carmel Guild, and various outpatient drug and alcohol facilities located out of state. Additionally, Josh managed and directed a School Based Youth Services Program through Family Connections and the New Jersey Department of Family and Children’s Services.
Josh received his undergraduate degree from the University of Montana and his master’s degree in social work from New York University. He has written numerous articles regarding substance abuse and mental health. In his free time, Josh enjoys studying sports psychology and applying skills learned to his favorite hobby, rock climbing. Josh loves what he does professionally, and this is evident in all aspects of treatment from the first phone call to the final session. He knows that change is possible and believes people can achieve this with the help of therapy.
